Youth Cabinet Engages in Youth Debates for Local Democracy Week

Thurrock Council’s Youth Cabinet took part in a session of Youth Debates at the Civic Offices in Grays on Tuesday 15 October, part of Local Democracy Week.
The debates centred around important issues that affect young people such as work experience opportunities and the need for a curriculum that better prepares young people for life.
Cllr Ryan Polston, was in attendance for the event to listen to our Youth Cabinet's discussions and hear their ideas.

Students pledge to help end knife crime in Thurrock

Pupils and teachers at Ortu Hassenbrook Academy in Stanford-le-Hope made a pledge to help fight knife crime thanks to pupil and Member of Youth Parliament, George Hare.
George said: "Raising awareness of knife crime is important to do and often doesn't get the attention that it deserves. I was really surprised to learn how many people carry knives because they think it makes them safer."

Youth Cabinet promotes Youth Music Survey

Working in partnership With Thurrock Music Education Hub, Thurrock Youth Cabinet is asking young people in the borough aged 11 to 18 years-old to have their say and complete a youth music survey.
Lionel Mazithulela, Member of Youth Parliament for Thurrock Youth Cabinet, said: "On behalf of Youth Cabinet, I would like to encourage all young people to complete this short survey. This is our chance as young people to input into future activities the Music Education Hub could offer in Thurrock."
