Lakeside
Lakeside has the potential to be transformed into a thriving regional town centre that provides a new range of employment opportunities, housing, excellent community facilities and quality green space.
The shopping centre opened in 1990 and is home to over 250 retail outlets. With support from landowners and others, Thurrock Council is now driving forward plans to transform Lakeside into a modern 21st century regional town centre, home to a vibrant community.
Work on the Lakeside Regional Centre project consists of many partners setting out the long term aims for the area. The development of the area will ensure that:
- 3,000 new homes
- additional retail units
- leisure and recreation
- green space
- improvement to pedestrian movement
The project has commenced with the approval of planning for additional shops and restaurants at Lakeside Shopping Centre.
