Recruitment to the council's senior leadership team has seen 2 director posts filled, with the successful candidates set to join the council in the new year.
The new members of the leadership team are as follows.
Alex Powell, Assistant Chief Executive
Alex is a Senior Civil Servant in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and is currently interim Chief Executive of the Leasehold Advisory Service, an arms-length body of DLUHC. He has held a number of senior posts in Whitehall and recently spent time as a Director of Strategy in a London Borough.
Previous roles include Director of the UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre programme, and Deputy Director of Local Government Stewardship, where he was responsible for local government risk and intervention. Alex was also Principal Private Secretary to two Secretaries of State and has held a number of roles across strategy, local government finance, economic growth and HR.
Daniel Fenwick, Executive Director of Corporate Services (Monitoring Officer)
Daniel is currently Director City Law and Governance at Liverpool City Council. He has been in his current role since December 2021. Previous roles include Director of Legal and Governance and Interim Executive Director at OneSource, as well as Director of Governance at London Borough of Waltham Forest. Daniel has also held earlier Principal Lawyer roles in two London borough councils.
Leader of the council, Councillor Andrew Jefferies, said: "I am delighted that we have found excellent candidates for these senior positions. As we continue to rebuild the council, with Commissioners oversight, this is an important step forward and will help us bring about the necessary changes throughout the whole organisation. Working together councillors and officers will ensure we make the improvements and deliver a council our residents deserve."
