How many miles/km of public rights of way do you cover?- 348 kilometres

What is your annual budget for public rights of way maintenance? - £50,000 Revenue and £40,000 Capital

Wayfinding- 3 complaints regarding replacement of signs and one complaint requiring new signing scheme- funded from 24-25 budget

Obstructions- land owners obstructions- 11 complaints

  • Steps taken out and replaced by a mud bank, unable to climb- on going
  • Route barricaded with fencing and a locked gate further along- on going
  • Gate chained- dealt with within six weeks
  • Tyres across access- dealt with within six weeks
  • Unfinished A13 works- now complete
  • Kissing gate locked and barricaded illegal sign put up- dealt with within 6 weeks
  • Cropped over path and ditch dug out- now completed
  • Wall in need of maintenance.- on going property FM department
  • Holes in access way- can still walk the footpath no work necessary
  • Ploughed field- written to land owner within 6 weeks
  • Accident on rail crossing, crossing closed by TTRO- on going

Path condition- 24 complaints about vegetation needing to be cut- all veg cutting completed within 6 weeks

Safety- plank bridge with nail sticking up. Planks replaced.

Stiles and fencing- 2 complaints

  • Metal pole missing on bridge- work completed
  • New bridge needed -work completed

Other- 2 complaints to other agencies, chased until works completed.

  • Environment Agency to cut vegetation along the seawall East Tilbury.
  • National Highways to replace drain cover in underpass.

What percentage of works are completed within 6 weeks?- approximately 75% overall

  • All vegetation cutting is completed within 6 weeks
  • If a bridge is needed, the ground conditions dictate timeframe due to access being suitable for vehicles to gain access to site.
  • All signs funded from 24-25 budget.

What percentage of reported issues go unresolved/unattended in a 12month period? – 17% unresolved or on going

What is the average cost per resolution of reported issue? If no average available, please provide low/high range?- Low £655.20 for 2 x persons of 6hr of cutting and high £3991.70 a type 2 bridge with hand rail.

Where you have a vegetation clearance programme in place, what is the criteria for selection of footpaths to be cleared in any given year?- Where there is going to be the most footfall, if there are events taking place in the borough, to school routes and also narrow sections of path that could block wider routes.
