Penalties for unauthorised absences
Please may you provide me with:
• The number of penalties issued to parents in relation to unauthorised absences
• The number of penalties issued to parents in relation to unauthorised holidays
• The number of staff whose role involves issuing penalties for unauthorised absences
I would like the data broken down for the last five years, with a year-end date of 5 April or whichever year-end is most convenient.
If this cannot be provided I would like the annual data for the last three years or, failing that, the last two.
If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance.
• Please note that all Penalty Notices (PN) are issued in respect of unauthorised absence. The data provided shows the number of PNs issued for irregular attendance and those issued for Unauthorised leave of absence (Term Time Holidays)
• As explained.
• The Penalty Notice process is managed by the School Attendance Support Team. 5 members of the team are involved in this process to varying degrees. It would not be possible to provide a breakdown of time and duties.
We gather data in academic years.
