Mould and Damp

Publication date:
Monday 9 September 2024
Request:

1.    In the financial years 21/22, 22/23 and 23/24, how many complaints about mold or damp did your council receive in relation to properties in your social housing stock?
2.    In the same financial years, how much was spent by the council on remedial work on social housing which contained damp or mold?
3.    How many properties are in your council's social housing stock?

Response:

1.   A report has identified 730 cases logged to repairs. (This is without any others that are not logged to that issue nature but still respond as the damp/mould issue is not the main element of that particular complaint.) Using our calculation of 5 minutes to review each case, as there is not a specific issue nature for mould, this would be as follows: 730 x 5 = 3650 minutes = 60.8 hours. (S12)

2.

21/22 - £184,336.

22/23 - £261,559.00

23/24 - £247,871.00

3.   9823

In issuing our response the council have applied S12 of the Freedom of Information Act.

This means that the council does not have to comply with your request if the cost of doing so exceeds the ‘appropriate limit’, which for local authorities is 18 hours.  This applies to the time taken spent locating and collating the requested information.

If you wish to narrow the scope of your request and resubmit this to the council then of course we may be able to provide this information.
