Capital Carriageway Budget
Please can you provide me with your highway asset management strategy for carriageways in particular how do you proportion your capital carriageway budget across your road hierarchy and by what proportions?
Could you complete the below table for the financial year 2024/25?
Asset Group Description Length (km) Budget Proportion

1 A Road Urban
2 A Road Rural
3 B Road Urban
4 B Road Rural
5 C Road Urban
6 C Road Rural
7 U Road Urban
8 U Road Rural
A link to the most recently published Thurrock Asset Management Strategy can be found here. However, when distributing budget to the Capital Carriageway programme, Thurrock authority tends to take a dynamic approach, not only based upon the data-driven factors found in the strategy, but also from active feedback over that year from local government, as well as general performance and forecast risk identification of Thurrock’s resilient network. Also, being the small authority that Thurrock is, its proportionate Capital funding means essentially Thurrock does not normally account for distribution between urban and rural areas, and also the sites identified in the programme may vary until the works has been completed, so for now it may be inaccurate to provide lengths for a programme that is still active.
Therefore, below is the 2024/25 budget distribution table requested but with the adjustment of providing the number of sites per Asset Group as opposed to the length in Km. We hope this still acceptable.
