•         Number of Blue Badges currently held (as of the date of this email)

•         Number of Blue Badge applications received since September 1st 2022

•         Number and percentage of successful Blue Badge applications since September 1st 2022 - of these, the number and percentage of applications which were successful under the Hidden Disability criteria

•         Number and percentage of unsuccessful Blue Badge applications since September 1st 2022 - of these, the number and percentage of applicants appealing the decision and the number and percentage of applicants who were successful in their appeal

Response: 

•         Number of Blue Badges currently held (as of the date of this email)     Total 9977

•         Number of Blue Badge applications received since September 1st 2022 Total 7363

•         Number and percentage of successful Blue Badge applications since September 1st 2022 – 6506 of these, the number and percentage of applications which were successful under the Hidden Disability criteria 101 were hidden renewal and new applications (89.7%)

•         Number and percentage of unsuccessful Blue Badge applications since September 1st 2022 – 756 of these, the number and percentage of applicants appealing the decision 9  and the number and percentage of applicants who were successful in their appeal Fewer than 5

We are unable to provide an exact number for question 4 above as: 

  • There is a low number involved. 
  • The release of this information could identify individuals which would constitute their personal data under the Data Protection Act  
  • There is no prior expectation on the part of these individuals that their personal information would be published in the wider public domain under the FOI Act 
  • Personal data of any other person is exempt under section 40 (2) of the Data Protection Act. 

However in the interests of transparency we are able to provide this information to you categorised as fewer than 5 to give you an indication of the figures
