His Majesty King Charles III succeeded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Proclaiming the King
The Proclamation is the official announcement of the new monarch.
The Mayor of Thurrock read the Proclamation of His Majesty King Charles III at 2pm, Sunday 11 September 2022 outside the Civic Offices in New Road, Grays.
Members of the public were welcome to join the Mayor and other local dignitaries for this ceremony, which involved lowering the flag and singing the national anthem.
