2024 local election results announced

The results of Thurrock Council's elections have been announced.
There were elections in 17 of the borough’s 20 wards. Following the count, these are the results:
27 Labour – held 4, gained 8, lost 0
13 Conservative – held 1, gained 0, lost 10
9 Independent – held 2, gained 2, lost 0

Candidates announced for local elections 2024

Local election nominations have officially closed and the names of all candidates standing for election in Thurrock on Thursday 2 May have been released.
Details of candidates running can be found at www.thurrock.gov.uk/elections
In this year's elections, only a third of councillors in the borough stand, which means some 2-councillor wards will not be contested this time.

A new pattern of wards is being developed for Thurrock Council.
The Local Government Boundary Commission has decided that the number of councillors in Thurrock should be 49, the same as now. The Local Government Boundary Commission wants to hear what residents and organisations think about their local area. A 10-week consultation inviting proposals will run until 1 April 2024.

The results of Thurrock Council's elections have been announced.
Elections took place in 16 of the borough's 20 wards yesterday (Thursday 4 May).
Following the count these are the results:
26 Conservative – held 3, gained 1, lost 4
19 Labour or Labour and Co-operative – held 4, gained 5
3 Independent – held 1, gained 1, lost 1
1 Thurrock Independents – held 1, lost 2

Polling cards have been delivered to eligible electors giving their voting details, polling station, voter ID requirements and how to apply for a postal or proxy vote. Polling hours on Thursday 4 May are from 7am until 10pm.
