Overview
Blackshots Park is located at the northwest of Grays, in the Little Thurrock area.
It is open 24 hours a day throughout the year and well-used by the local community.
The full park covers between 10 and 12 hectares. It includes:
- an open play area for children
- a wide grassy area – King George's Field
- a skate park
- 2 full-size rugby pitches
- 2 bowling greens
- facilities for bowling, tennis and volleyball
From 2024/25, 4 small football pitches will be available – 2 for 7-a-side, and 2 for 9-a-side football.
The park is also used by visiting funfairs and circuses.
Play areas at the park are checked once a week to make sure equipment is safe and tidy. The grass is cut between March and November, monthly throughout the summer.
Next to the park are:
- Thurrock Harriers Athletic Club track at Blackshots Athletic Stadium
- Impulse Leisure Blackshots, which has a 33 metre swimming pool, teaching pool and splash pool
- The Civic Hall theatre venue
Free car parking is available at Impulse Leisure Blackshots.
Pedestrians can enter the park via Blackshots Lane on the west side, Stanford Road to the south, or either Broadview Avenue or Jesmond Close to the north.
